curdleigh house

Curdleigh House has been constructed on what was the footprint of a pair of semi-detached cottages built on the northern edge of the Blackdown Hills. LCA obtained Planning Permission for two substantially larger replacement semi-detached dwellings. In close collaboration with our developer client, the scheme evolved to become a single larger dwelling, which occupies a unique position in open countryside with dramatic 360 degree views.

The dwelling was designed with close reference to local vernacular structures, and carries a palette of high quality natural materials. The building has an informal character, which resonates with traditional farm buildings, rather than having the appearance of a standard developer built dwelling.
