Cathedral Green

The Dean and Chapter of Exeter Cathedral have created, with Landscape Architect Robert Myers, a Master Plan for the re-landscaping of the whole of Exeter Cathedral Green, a Scheduled Ancient monument. The Master Plan has been separated into phases with Phase 1, which included the whole of the Green to the North of the Cathedral, gaining successful Big Lottery funding late in 2010.

Following the commencement of the tender stage of the Phase I works The Dean and Chapter approached LCA to act as Contract Administrators for the project and to assist in co-ordinating the Design Team. Our involvement was from the conclusion of the tender stage to the completion of the project. Works included the provision of new services around the Green, new lighting and security, the relocation of a monument and the re-landscaping and resurfacing of paths and seating areas.

There were many aspects to consider with this project, including full archaeological attendance and excavation, and the many and diverse stakeholders from the Cathedral's Fabric Advisory Committee to the local Gardening Club.
