new lodge

Having been commissioned to design the first new shooting lodge on Exmoor for a decade, we were given the challenge of delivering the project in around five months from planning to construction. The finished complex is a clear demonstration that speed does not mean that quality takes a back seat. Working with Exmoor National Park's landscape officer we developed designs that complemented the wooded setting and respected the historic farmstead complex of which the lodge is a part.

Using an oak frame construction, oak trusses for the roof, oak weatherboarding and traditional lead or slate roofs, a comfortable relaxing complex was created that includes an open plan dining room, bar and sitting room, changing room and lockers, gun servicing and cleaning room, commercial kitchen and guest and disabled lavatories. A glazed wall, framed by oak posts runs down one side of the building allowing spectacular views of the surrounding countryside from the warmth and comfort of the accommodation.
